To Fridrikur,
Hi. Can you tell me which specific version of PT M-Powered 8.0.1 you were able to get running on Windows 7 x64? Was it M-Powered 8.0.1 Win XP or are you using M-Powered 8.0.1 Vista 32 ?

I am using M-powered 8.0 (no cs) XP version. Runs very fast on win7 64bit, but otherwise the win7 is unstable. On xp the machine has never shown a single BSOD. On win7 twice a day.

I'm getting pops and static on audio loops right before the loop should take place,in PT8. Using latest beta driver for win7 24/96 delta.. No issues though when in cubase, nor studio one.. Seems like a PT8 issue

I have Windows 7 Ultimate up and running. Installed PT 8.0.1cs1 using the new M-audio ProfireLightbridge drivers for Windows 7 x64 that M-Audio released yesterday. You are right. PT 8 loads very fast and I too am getting lots of BSODs. Also, I cannot run as many plugins as I can on Windows XP x64. In fact, very few as compared to XP x64. That of course is a deal breaker for me unless I can find a way to run as many plugs as I could in Windows XP x32.

Win 7 Home Premium 32, Fast Track Ultra with M-audio beta drivers.

I installed the drivers a week ago, and just now PT. There were some problems with the device during and after installation, got the blue screen once before I even connected the box. That seemed to resolve itself, then I connected the Ultra and got an error -

Quote:
DFU status errFILE state ERROR
After some tinkering, I got it to load without the error - I had a synth hooked up to the MIDI in port. Disconnected that, and the error went away. Still hasn't returned - I reconnected the MIDI cable, and can power off and on the FTU and/or connect and disconnect the USB cable and no more errors.

PT install went fine - started with 8, then ran the updater to 8.0.1. Kept iLok and FTU disconnected until install was over and restart was complete. Plugged them in and launched Pro Tools. The very first launch was VERY slow. Closed, and launched again, this time very fast. Rebooted the machine, and it still launched very fast. The first time it was probably writing the database files and what-not.

One thing that was sort of weird - in the Quick Start dialog I went to open a session by browsing since there were not yet any recent sessions to display. And the first place PT, or Windows took me to to look was in the System 32 folder! Yeah, that's where I store all my sessions!

Anyway, I haven't put it to the full test yet, just ran some instruments and instrument tracks and no problems. Interface very responsive, much better than it ever ran on Vista. No issues with the sound at all. No audible latency.

Sorry about that. I haven't tested too many third party plugins yet only xpand2 and boom. But aria garritan doens't install in win7, a shame.
For the last 2 days I have had no BSOD, and I suddenly realized that my Ilok usb dongle was not plugged in. Could it be? I did some research and it seem people are having Ilok issues in win7, bsod issues, but they get a file version with the BSOD too that is specific to the Ilok, I do not. Perhaps it is worh investigating?
After all Ilok and IE8 did not work well together in xp
