Default Volumes set to "Transfer" only / Playback / Record...HELP! Can't open session

I'm not sure if I posted this in the right area but oh well. Alright...I'm sure you guys have seen this thread WAY too many times as much as I've read them but I haven't been able to find a solution with all of the threads I've read and I'm still in need of help. I haven't opened a session in a while and I wanted to work on a song that I've been working for some time then I started getting this pop up (I can't open any session for that matter) and I have no idea why this started happening. I've never changed any setting from what I can recall, I've tried going to the "workspace" and change the "A" and "V" to record but I can only change the "V" to record and when I try to change the "A" it says "C: cannot be designated as an audio record volume because it is not a valid audio volume." I know I should be saving this on an external drive but I'm stupid and don't currently have one BUT I still have never had this problem before.

I've read some things talking about reformatting my hard drive or delete Digi Data base and restarting pro tools? All of this sounds scary cuz I don't wanna lose anything! It's just driving me crazy because I don't know how this suddenly changed and that I can't fix it...I've been able to figure out all the other million problems I've run into but this one got me stumped. Please for the love of music somebody save my soul!

Perhaps this is one of the reasons why Digi says that you should use a separate drive for music. That is what everyone does.

Hard drives are very inexpensive.

I know I need a separate hard drive but I'm just trying to figure out why all the sudden this started doing this. I have a huge hard drive as it is and have plenty of memory left still. I also tried saving it on a USB stick just for [bleep][bleep][bleep][bleep]s and giggles but it still didn't work and would say the same thing. I guess it's also possible the USB is not formatted but I'm pretty sure I formatted it a long time ago... I guess if I cant find any other solutions then I'll have to look into getting a separate hard drive. I just hope if I do that it will solve the problem.
