how to send without having server/LT

it's very new to me to send with digidelivery;something i don't understand :in the client guide they tell me that i don't need a server LT to send or receive files with digidelivery and everywhere i read in the knowledge bases everyone's talking about a server LT they own =
can somebody explain how it really works please;thank you
