Default older prottols versions

I have some older protools session that was done in 2001. I now want to open them files on my protools rig, i have 8.1. i know these sessions were done on software thats 13 yrs old. how can i go about getting the protools software to open these files. please advise.

v8.1 should be able to open sessions going back to v3.2. Have you tried opening your older sessions with v8.1?
