Default 003 rack is not connecting. Blinking green light. no HOST 1394 light.

When I fire up Pro Tools, I get a message that says "Unable to locate digidesign hardware". I have tried everything I can think of to solve this problem. I have even reinstalled my mac to factory settings and updated everything again. When I turn on my computer, the Link light on the back of the rack lights up and blinks. The HOST light in the front does not light up at all. Any suggestions? Thanks

I just had the same error, I had to jiggle my firewire cable around, (powered off first), hope that does the trick?

If you're using the firewire cable that came with the unit, that could be the problem. It stinks. You can get a better one. I personally use a Monster firewire 6 pin to 6 pin. Sam Ash usually carries them. You might also find a decent quality one at Best Buy or something.

Hey im having the same problem, im running pro tools 7.4 on a macbook pro 10.6.3 (snow leopard), one day i was starting protools and this message appeared in my screen "Unable to locate digidesign hardware". i went to the local music store, one guy advice me to update the firmware of the 003 and try to get the last version of protools, the 8.0.3.
apparently nothing happens, the link indicator on the back of the 003 rack blinks, and HOST 1394 light indicator on the front panel is off.

i really need help!!!!!

Did you get 8.0.3? If not, that's likely the problem, as 7.4 is not compatible with Snow Leopard and you need compatible drivers installed for the 003 to work properly.

This is the Mac forum. You may get better answers in the Windows forum. I can't help with Windows problems. Sorry.
