Yes, I tried a couple of different USB cables and there are no extensions or hubs involved. I tried different headphones too.
I might take it into GC this weekend and see if they can hook it up and get the same results. They weren't much help on the phone this morning. Thanks everyone for suggestions! Keep them coming. I know this is going to be something simple. |

There are a few reports of serious noise problems with the FTP that users fixed by using a powered USB-hub instead of connecting it directly to the Mac. I can't verify this, but so they say.
Do you have access to a different Mac, preferably with Mountain Lion? You could try to install the necessary drivers and hook up the FTP to that.

I've tried different USB cables and headphones and no change. Even tried listening to a different song in iTunes and no change.
Just un-installed the driver 1.9.2 and re-installed it. No change. Still bad and still sad. |

I've tried different USB cables and headphones. I believe I will use my Time Machine backup from prior to updating to 10.8.2 and go back to Snow Leopard that worked.
Thanks for all your help guys. |

I tried several USB cables and headphones. Still bad.
Really sucks that they, Avid, says it works on their site, but IT DOES NOT!!! |

Do you have sample depth set to 24 bits set in System Preferences > M-Audio Fast Track Pro? I have similar problem but it is cured by switching to 16 bits. Also check if in the same window Outputs 3 & 4 are enabled. If it is, try disabling. Does it make a trick?

Anz thank you so much! I changed it to 16-bit and it worked! I thought I had tried it before but apparently not.
Thanks everyone for all of your suggestions! Tolbert |

I'm at work so I've had to test on the sly when I can. It's boxed up for now, but 16 worked w GarageBand, iTunes, and MP9.
I will try 24 bit tonight and see what happens. I just do rough demos of my tunes anyway so if that's what I have until a fix comes out it will have to do. |

Tolbert,
I'm new to using the old Fast Track Pro, tell me, are you getting good output signal from it? I'm finding that all outputs are sending very different gain. What's your experience?
