Default Synchronizing task driving me nuts!

Does anyone know why drives have to keep synchronizing in the task window. I have a couple of 1TB drives that only hold my libraries. I don't use them for my sessions except to import music and fx. Quite often during my working on a session, the task window shows synchronizing those drives, or folders in those drives, and the wonderful colorwheel starts turning, and I have to wait
until it's done before I can work again. Sometimes it goes on for several minutes.

I'm running PT 7.3.1
Mac OSX - 10.4.11

I dumped all of the Digi Databases, but no luck after restart. It's still doing the same thing. Any suggestions?
