I have a pair of Genelec 8040's, and I love them, you would probably be happy with the 8020's. However I would also suggest giving a listen to a pair of Dynaudio Acoustics BM5A's. They are in the same price range and actually have a wider frequency response than the Genelec 8020's.

Hope this helped.

I just moved my studio into my apartment and need to downsize. I currently have Genelec 1031's but I want to replace them with the smallest but best sounding monitors as possible. I haven't heard them yet but I'm leaning towards the 8030's. Although I love the size.. and I will be using my monitors with a sub.. I can't imagine the 8020's giving me a full sound but I hope to test them.. Thanks for the Dynaudio recomendation. I will check them out too. If anyone knows of anyother great sounding, cool looking, and small monitors feel free to pitch in.

it's all about sound levels, really. if you use a sub, then you don't worry about satellites' low-end response, which you offload to the subs by definition. the "full sound" is more about tuning your sub than about low-end behaviour of the 8020's.

the new 80x0 series is awesome. i myself have a pair of 8050's and they're very accurate. (they also have very good low end, but that's another story.) the one thing that i don't like when used in in small rooms is that they are VERY LOUD. even if i set them to the quietest, i need to bring the signal level down to get reasonable levels for nearfield monitoring. but they're not designed to be installed in very small places, so if you have such, then you really should choose a smaller one.

in my opinion you should test the 8020 in your listening environment. if you can set them loud enough, and can match them with your sub, then they suit you fine.
