Error message on line 994
Hi guys,
I am a complete Pro Tools noob here. I'm getting this error: "Could not complete your request because Assertion in "E:\ Code\ 238951\ ProTools\ AAE\ Source\ AAX\ CFicAAXWidget.cpp", line 994." I'm running 2019.6 with HD Driver 2019.6. I have never gotten Pro Tools to run at all my laptop once. This is my first install. Running a Dell XPS 13 9360, i7, 16gb ram, 512gb ssd, with System Bios 2.11.0, Intel Display Audio 10.24.0.3, Intel Smart Sound Technology OED 9.21.4001.1, Intel Smart Sound Technology Audio Controller 9.21.0.4001, Realtek Audio 6.0.1.8622, Intel USB Audio 6.3.9600.2208 |

Re: Error message on line 994
For others who encounter this problem on a Windows machine. Although it was already installed, I had to reinstall ASIO4ALL V2. And then hold down N during startup and select that as the playback engine.

Re: Error message on line 994
Hi have you solved your problem?
I'm in the same situation. Dell Inspiron 3793 i7 1065G7 NVMe Realtek Pro Tools First crashes with the message above. No additional hardware plugged, only the standalone laptop! Thank you for your help |

Re: Error message on line 994
With no interface, you MUST have a working ASIO driver. Without that, you have no "audio engine", which means Pro Tools can't run. ASIO4ALL is free and MIGHT work, but its not the most elegant solution. Using a real interface is going to give better results(most on-board sound cards sound like crap via the analog output, anyway). Also, for Windows users, you NEED to set Windows>Sound Properties so that the "Default Playback Device" is NOT the interface(when you install the interface driver, Windows will almost always grab it by default. When this happens, Pro Tools cannot control the interface and you end up with messages about the interface doesn't support xxxx sample rate).

Re: Error message on line 994
Thank you Dave,
I meant i have no "additional" hardware, but obviously i have the default Realtek audio coming with my laptop and with a correct driver. And it crashes When i plug my hardware Behringer 202HD (disable for default play as suggested) It crashes as well I have also tested ASIO4ALL (even if neither Realtek nor Behringer require it) It crashes as well In a word, i have tested everything and everything crashes on my very new Dell Inspiron 3793 laptop bought in May 2020. I have nothing else specific installed on this new laptop. Thank you very much |

Re: Error message on line 994
Uninstall ASIO4ALL
Check Windows sound is set to use the internal audio Start Pro Tools while holding down the N key and keep it held down until the playback ending dialog appears. In that dialog select the 202HD ASIO interface I have no idea what exact choice names you will see but if there are multiple ones you need to pick the ASIO driver for that interface. If that is not clear tell us all the choices you see. If that does not work... Uninstall whatever Berenger driver you have installed Download a new copy of the latest ASIO driver for that interface. With the interface disconnected install that driver. Make sure Windows Sound is using the laptops internal audio Start Pro Tools while holding down the N key again. When you see the Playback engine dialog appears select the 202HD ASIO interface. Are the choices in the menu differed than before? If that does not work you may want to contact Berringer or try doing a full clean install of Windows (ideally clean installers from Microsoft not OEM recovery media full of crapware), and manually install the bare minimum drivers to get started, and then Pro Tools. This is an incredibly stupid error message, it's simply caused by an interface that appears to have no outputs. Avid could make this much more user friendly, they just don't seem to care. *but* it's very likely certainly caused by a problem with your system, driver or OS install not with Pro Tools itself. Unfortunately Windows laptops bundled up with all sorts of crapware are not the best platforms for Pro Tools. |

Re: Error message on line 994
Thank you but i have already done everything you suggested
With Behringer 202HD and native ASIO driver => PT crashses With Behringer 202HD and ASIO4ALL driver => PT crashses Without Behringer 202HD and Realtek native driver => PT crashses Without Behringer 202HD and Realtek + ASIO4ALL driver => PT crashses Hold N at start => asked me to choose the interface then => PT crashes Delete Avid/Protools First path (to reset the interfaces) => PT crashes Loaded old Realtek drivers / new Realtek drivers => PT crashses Disable Realtek device only Behringer 202HD with ASIO => PT crashes Disable Realtek device only Behringer 202HD with native driver => PT crashes Disable everything => PT stops because no device found Reinstalled Windows and re-do the list above => PT crashes I have removed Skype, McAfee, Cortana, Waves MaxxAudio in order to avoid they interfer with my audio interfaces => PT crashes Notice : my old Asus Win10 i3 Realtek on board + Behringer 202HD => PT perfectly runs ! If you have another suggestion i'm open. When it crashes I get different messages : cFicAAXWidget.cpp line 994 hardware used by another program AAE 6117 cannot find device or sometimes it closes without any message. (sorry the messages are translated from French, so may not appear exactly like this in English). When i used ASIO4ALL generally i can go further, the application starts, but as soon as i create a new project it crashes without any message. Thank you for your help Last edited by Mahieu; 06-11-2020 at 01:47 AM. |

Re: Error message on line 994
Try unistalling the AvidHD Driver as they are for HDN/HDX cards only and as you dont use any of them uninstall that HD driver asap and reinstall PT without the HD driver or any codec unless you use them.only the software package and nothing else. Make sure you uninstall HD driver correctly
