Default Xpand... all the sounds have delay on them???

Almost every one of the sounds in Xpand has one kind of timed delay on them or another and I can't figure out how to disable it. Am I doing it wrong or is the software actually this disabled?

Xpand 1 or 2? There's a "power button" for the effects at the bottom of Xpand 2, which usually has some sort of delay or reverb on it. I agree, Xpand uses a lot of delay by default.

Xpand2

Yeah, I have tried disabling the effects with the power button but it doesn't stop the ping pong delays on nearly every damn sound. Usually it just stops a little bit of reverb. It sucks because the sounds are great, but I can't be printing delays on everything and locking the mix stage into them like that. It's really amateur and I'm hoping there's a way around it.

If you're trying to play it in real-time, you have to lower the H/W buffer size. Look in Setup > Playback Engine and set the buffer size as low as you can.

Also make sure there are no MIDI offsets in your session. Event > MIDI Track Offset. I've noticed that MIDI track offsets remain when you open sessions that have them.

No, not latency. Delay, the audio effect where the sound echoes. These are timed ping pong delays on almost every sound, not latency from my audio engine.

I have to agree with you...the delay on Xpand voices is not going to be in sync with the song's tempo most of the time. Can't seem to get rid of the delay...it's embedded in the voices. Not all but enough. It should be optional.

I hope you have discovered the A/B/C/D PART Screens and are not only using the EASY screen. Most of the synth lead patches I tried have a DELAY or EFFECTS LEVEL knob available in the PART Screen. Some do not, I'll give you that.

The PART Screens often have the best parameters for customizing the sound.

Busch.

I have noticed the delay thing as well. I turn off all effects on all parts and delay is still on.

Also, there is no way to turn the release all the way to off on some patches.

There should be some way to get at all parameters in the future.

OK I have had some success with the A-D pages and the "delay" or "effect level" knobs. I had looked in there but somehow overlooked those settings. Thanks for the help. I still wish there was actually a way to get at all those features instead of just having them hard-wired to the patches, but at least I can use the sounds now without printing delays on everything.

I agree.

I started playing around with the option to add more parts to a sound. That's where the delays became a problem.

Lets say a cool pad needs another layer, when you add another layer you usually get another delay. Now the patch is swimming way too much and there is nothing you can do.

Very Lame.
