Re: Going from D-Command to S3 + Dock
S6 uses Eucon.

Re: Going from D-Command to S3 + Dock
Right. I guess I was misinformed. I thought it was some kind of derivative of Eucon specifically created for the S6 rather than the same Eucon that the S3/Artist Series runs on.

Re: Going from D-Command to S3 + Dock
S6 does use its own version of EuCon. It's not the same as Artist series or S3.

Re: Going from D-Command to S3 + Dock
Eucon is the protocol, the s6 and s3 / artist have different software running eucon.

Right, they are unique. Just because one has something, doesn't necessarily mean the other does.

Re: Going from D-Command to S3 + Dock
Is anyone concerned that the D-Command will not be supported much longer? What happens at that point? Will user have to stall out at the last supported version of PT?

Re: Going from D-Command to S3 + Dock
Yes. The icon series is EOL in 2018 but that doesn't mean it won't work. Procontrols worked for 5 years after its EOL date. I will say Avid seems to be moving fast lastly so maybe 5 years of icons functioning isn't realistic.

Quote:
I just made a quick configuration of a comparable S6 and it bummed me out to no end to see that while they made it narrower (less finger room to press buttons, move faders) they also made it DEEPER by about 7 inches. . . . If you're in somewhat tight quarters (as many of us are these days), that may mean pushing your monitoring location back by 7 inches, which is not ideal if you've spent a lot of time tuning the room. Plus, ergonomically, isn't that taking workspace from where you DO need it and putting it where you DON'T need it? Having not used an S6 yet, I'm just speculating, but it seems like you'd end up using about the same about of space, but with less room to maneuver. . .

Re: Going from D-Command to S3 + Dock
I'm hoping for an S6MKII myself.
I agree 1000% on the tiny buttons etc. And who thought it was a good idea to put the OLEDs behind the knobs!?!?!!?!?! |
