v12.6 "Insertion Follows Playback" With Preroll
Bug or Feature?
Here's how it used to operate prior to 12.6. Note the playback jumps back by the preroll amount each time. Great when Melody'ing vocals etc. https://vid.me/FyXn Now here's the same thing in v12.6. The damn thing keeps playing from the same place, it no longer takes preroll into account. https://vid.me/PL3p I know this is small fry compared to the MIDI bug etc, but I'm finding it v annoying. |

Is your pre roll button on?

Check the videos. Pre-roll of a bar on both examples.

Have you opened a support case with Avid about this issue?

Re: v12.6 "Insertion Follows Playback" With Preroll
I logged it as a "bug" but asked for clarification as to which behavior is correct/expected.
Seems in PT11 the insertion point follows you when you press stop ahead of the "old" insertion point. If you let it play past it, they both behave the same. |

Re: v12.6 "Insertion Follows Playback" With Preroll
I noticed that the fade in is not on in the 12.6 video. It shouldn't matter but maybe worth a try. That could be the bug. I would match up your preferences but I'm thinking you have done that.

Re: v12.6 "Insertion Follows Playback" With Preroll
BTW, I actually prefer the PT12 way. I put the insertion there for a reason, just because I hit stop early doesn't mean I want that moved.
That's my view. |

I'm being facetious of course. But the way it works now is illogical. And why spend valuable programming hours changing something that no one had voiced a problem with? And yet my instrument tracks are sometimes recalled with "none" on the MIDI part after booting a session, 8 whole years after they were first introduced. |
