Need to set up Effect Send Loop with MBox 2
Ok, I just want to know the cheapest hardware solution for this. I want to send a single track out to go through a couple of outboard effects (Kaoss pad, DD7, etc) and I can't seem to figure out how I would do this. Effectively, I think i need to either upgrade to a pro or digi002, or get a secondary unit.
What's the cheapest way? (ultimately this is the only extra need I've had with the mbox) Could I slave an M-Audio FireWire Solo? What could I do? System info; PT8 MBox 2 (regular) Quadcore Machine with XP 4 gigs ram. etc.. Last edited by joshkross; 06-29-2009 at 03:04 PM. Reason: added questions/info |

Re: Need to set up Effect Send Loop with MBox 2
A used 002 would be a good solution and likely the cheapest as well. The only way I can think to make it work on an Mbox, would be to use the SPDIF out to the external device and return it thru the Mbox inputs and record it to new tracks(or a stereo track). In any case, that seems a huge PITA. Since you can't combine interfaces, trying to add a second Digi unit won't help(or work).

Re: Need to set up Effect Send Loop with MBox 2
I think using the SPDIF out and returning through the inputs would be fine if that can be done cheaper than the 500-600 i'm seeing for a used 002 on Craigslist around here.

Re: Need to set up Effect Send Loop with MBox 2
No problem. The only thing is; to use the SPDIF out, you need to get that digital signal into whatever you want to process with. If it has a SPDIF input, you will be all set. If it does not, then you would need a way to convert(D>A) to analog to feed the external processor(s). Depending on that cost, selling the Mbox and upgrading to the 002 might not be much more money(and you would gain several more ins and outs).

The effects units don't, but I could get some kind of converter to send from SPDIF to rca/1/4"? any recommendations?
