Re: Local storage with PTF
Create a "Session" instead of a "Project". Sessions are local and Projects are in the cloud.

Re: Local storage with PTF
Thanks...
The last time I used PTF was in 2018, and now on version 2020.9 its seems that something positive has been done. It seems to be running a lot smoother now. And with unlimited local projects its very usable for a lot of situations. Thumbs up

Re: Local storage with PTF
Uh except this is Pro Tools First. First does not support Sessions, it support Cloud Projects, and the mess that is local projects. Anybody valuing their own time and wanting reliable storage should get off First and cloud projects and onto Pro Tools Standard and sessions.

Re: Local storage with PTF
In the case you have more than three projects, if you were to make a copy of the Project Cache folder (or, to be safer, the whole Pro Tools local storage folder) in Pro Tools First to carry them to a future installation (say you have to reset your PC completely and reinstall all software), what do you have to do to so that the local-only projects continue to work? I tried this once and the new installation of Pro Tools First would not recognise any of them.
It would make sense to think there is a way to authenticate those projects came from the same user or whatever (if Avid's fear is something like that). Otherwise, Pro Tools First local-only projects are only usable within a single installation, which makes the idea of 'unlimited local storage' not that appealing in the long term. I would love to know if anyone has an answer to this or knows anything relevant I have not mentioned - as well as if I am making any wrong assumptions or am not well informed on anything. Thanks! |
