Default Thoughts on the Eiosis e2deesser?

How do you guys feel about the Eiosis e2deesser. Been trying it on a few things and Pro Tools Expert has a good video on it, but I still have mixed feelings about it. Maybe I just need to use it a little more. Some times it feels a bit heavy handed, other times not enough. I've been having a tough time finding a middle ground and as a result keep going back to the Waves Deesser.

Default Thoughts on the Eiosis e2deesser?

I am also interested, i have yet to find a DS'r that actually works w/o making me hate it.

I do and have used MB compression more often than not.

The best version I've heard in my most humble experience was the HOFA IQEQ ----dynamic equalizer is I believe what they call it. My Plugin Alliance version works pretty well too.

I love it, don't use anything else anymore. It can be a bit confusing at first to setup, so I asked someone from Eiosis for best workflow. I'll paste his response below. I find that most de-essers tends to dull the top end as you hit it harder. This is the only one that will actually make it sound 'cleaner', especially if you use a bit of the saturation knob.

What I do personally is to first adjust the Sensitivity until it's getting the exact amount of sibilance. I preview it using the monitor controls under the EQ to ensure I've got all of the sibilants. Then, I will dial in a desired EQ curve, mainly taking out high end with a shelf and deciding if I need any other EQ bands. Then I'll adjust the Amount knob to decide how much of the Sibilant EQ attenuation I want. Then I'll turn up the Auto, then the Smooth knob to taste. I get great results this way.
Hopefully that helps.

I myself have been looking for the perfect deesser and haven't found it yet (own most of the ones available). I use several different deessers in a row, which to me yields the best result.
The Eiosis DeEsser doesn't appeal to me at all. It alters the sound of the signal too much.
The ones I find to work best in conjunction are Fabfilter, Waves Ren and SPL.

I use a similar approach incorporating Fabfilter Pro DS, Sonnox Supresser and McDSP AE400/AE600.

I'm over anything Slate related, and while I realize Eiosis is not Slate, they share the same algorithms architect. I've incorporated a policy to divest the studio of as much Slate related products as possible. So it also does not appeal to me.

YMMV, etc ...

I second the idea of volume automation. I have pretty much all of the de-essers and some of them work ok but nothing really works as well as good old volume automation or, even preferably, clip gain manipulation. Works like a charm but obviously takes longer than using a plugin.

While I don't have the Eiosis, I have gotten good results using the TDR Nova dynamic EQ as a deesser. It's free, and excellent, so if you don't already have it you might want to use it to compare.

I also manually set clip levels when sibilance is a major problem. It doesn't really take all that long, I can do a vocal track in a few minutes. But as you said, it's not as quick as adding a plugin.
