Pro Tools 12 - Video engine won't launch

Hello,

I have a Pro tools 12.4.0 standard version. Problem is : the video engine won't launch, the loading bar fills up very very slowly, and we it's full, nothing happens. I can wait for hours and nothing will change. No error message or anything, it just won't launch.

I've been looking for this problem for weeks, it seems that a lot of people have issues with video engine, but all the solutions that has been suggested doesnt work for me. So here I am without being able to work with any videos (i tried with different videos of course).

Already reinstall Pro Tools many times, tried running as admin,

A few spec about my computer :

-Windows 7 / 64 bits
-Audiobox USB (Presonus)
-System : MSI (MS-7673)
-Intel Core i5-2500k CPU @ 3.30GHz (4CPUs)
-RAM : 16Go
-DirectX 11
-Graphic Card : NVIDIAN GeForce GTX 960

I really need help here, lost so much time trying to fix this

Hello:
Had this same issue on PT 12.3-12.4 running on a Mac so your results may very but see if this might help you.

- Open a new empty session in PT.
- Turn off the video engine (setup-playback engine) and close the session.
- Open your session that has the video file in it...when PT asks you if you want to start the video engine...click no
-PT should load the session...now turn the video engine back on and hopefully you will be good to go.

Just bumping this up because I'm running 12.8 and the same thing is happening. No error message, just continuous load with no end.

what type video files are you "Cats" using ?? just trying to fish for a little more info to try and reproduce here on a MAC ..

I'm trying to open a small file for an exercise for PT Certification class. I took the project home, but if the video engine can't launch, then there's no point in working on it.

It's 00:42, H.264, Timecode, Liner PCM (720 x 480) QuickTime movie.

I used to do lots of Post a few years ago, before I "upgraded' the the subscription service. I think the last I did Post was back using v 10.yadayada. So, now that I have the newest version of PT, I find it quite upsetting that things I used to be able to do seems unattainable.

can you upload it to dropbox ?? be happy to take a gander at it and see if there is anything odd with your video ...

hi, it plays fine in PT 12.8 on my mac system .. from an external 5400 rpm Toshiba Drive .. i usually play form the internal but i tried this and it works too .. takes about 5 seconds to load ..

no audio in there right ??

and the video is funny even without sound .. !! LOL

Yes, no audio. It's a practice project for PT User Cert.
