Default Re: Can you move Pro Tools sessions to another drive in bulk?

Some of my team has to do this every session/episode. Although I hate this workaround and avoid it like the plague...you can go into "workspace" and relink/copy the offline files that are not in the session Audio folder. I find it tedious as crap and it may be simpler and use less time to just "save copy in"...perhaps "workspace" is just another option for what you think are only a few missing files. FWIW I drag and drop sessions to another drive all the time...as suggested always verify the copied session...it is faster if you don't need the copy or relink option.

The import bug I was running into was that sometimes when importing a file, sometimes the file would never become "playable." It would just import, never draw the waveform and never playback. I can't remember if it gave any error messages or codes. However I did figure out that if I unchecked the box to copy files on import I no longer had this issue. Because of that issue, I'm now in a position where I'm not positive about the location of my audio files.

Seems like I'm going to start doing this manually...

Thanks for the help everyone!

My "cover my ASSets" routine is now that I copy/move files INTO the session folder and then import from there.

That's what I've started doing. It solves 2 issues. 1. I always know where to look for the original audio files that were imported and 2. Everything is in the session folder.

Avid needs to upgrade their file management system and have the default be that all files associated with a given session are in THAT sessions folder.
