Default Graphic Tablets?

It was suggested to me to use a graphics tablet to control the faders instead of the mouse (without spending $$$ on Motor Mix or HUI). Anyone do this? Can you even use a tablet concurrently with a mouse? I've never tried one of these but seems like a decent, cheap solution (unless anyone can convince me otherwise).

Also, are their any people on this board that live in Toronto? I just got a couple of questions about local retailers, etc.
Please email me at [email protected]

Thanks

Tablets are great but i don't know that it will do what you are looking for. A tablet can be used with a mouse but you can use only one at a time to controll the cursor. The only real benifit from a tablet is you can work a little faster. Don't thing a tablet would be worth the 200 bucks just to use it for pulling the faders. I always set fader moves using key frames.
Hope this helps!!!!!

Here's what I read (from www.macdoc.com/digaudfaq.html):

"A small graphics tablet such as a Graphire is worth it (around $145), to make on-screen faders more of a tactile experience. A mouse sucks for mixing, believe me. Best, of course, are mixing control surfaces such as a Mackie HUI, but they’re pricey."

I think that price is Canadian if you're wondering.

I havea Graphire. For Photoshop, it works great for precise editing and airbrush work. For PT, it doesn't get used at all.

Just my $0.02
