incurably small midi tracks

I'm re-working some old tracks from PT 6 & 7. The midi tracks come up at the smallest scale, in notes view, so that the track looks like a straight line. No amount of clicking on the zoom button helps. There are work-arouns - duplicating the track or copying the data, but still it's a pain.
