"Pro Tools has stopped working"
Hi all,
I'm trying to work with Pro Tools 11 which is generally cool, but I'm getting the message, "Pro Tools has stopped working" roughly every 20 minutes or so and the program becomes un-responsive and a re-boot of the PC is required.. I've researched this quite hard but only found the issue relating to Vista and this message appearing on startup.. Any help or advice would be very welcome.. Thanks very much, Ben |

Start here. Doesn't look like Vista is compatible with 11 on the PC. |

To the OP - you need to post way more info on your system - OS version, specific PT 11 version, what plugins you're using, SANDRA report and so on. Read this: http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=336556 |

I'd kind of like to think there is someone in the world somewhere trying to use PT11 on Vista. There probably is. I had a guy email me a few weeks ago wondering why his PT8 LE wouldn't install on Mavericks (you know who you are!!). |

Re: "Pro Tools has stopped working"
Hi, thanks for your input on this; I'm aware that one of my drives is only a 5400rpm speed and also that I have mixed, but paired memory..whether this might account for the error I don't know..

Re: "Pro Tools has stopped working"
My thoughts from your SANDRA report are as follows:
I assume you using the audiophile as your audio device? Have you downloaded the latest drivers for it? Are there any other programs running which are also trying to use the audiophile (including the system audio)? If you try switching to the in-built audio does the error continue? Are you using any 3rd party plugins? Are you using the latest version of PT11? (11.2.1) You have several hard drives listed there - which of them are your sessions on? Is the error the same if you run a session from a different hard drive? There's probably a lot more lines of enquiry but let's start with those. And for future reference I would think a windows specific sub-forum might have been a better place for your question like this one: http://duc.avid.com/forumdisplay.php?f=93 Not that it matters a huge amount, just that more people with windows specific knowledge might see your post there. I'm more of a mac girl myself. |

Re: "Pro Tools has stopped working"
Hi Suicune,
Yes the M-Audio asio sound card is the one I'm using and the drivers are up-to-date; it's possible that say Windows Media Player could be sharing the sound card; I'll check.. I'm running all the Spectrasonics plug-ins; Omnisphere, Trilian and Stylus RMX..and yes Pro Tools 11.2.1 The sessions are on the slower drive, so I'll shift them onto the 7200 drive and see if that makes a difference.. I do appreciate your help and advice, as this it's so frustrating to constantly have to re-boot.. Ben |
