IMO Avid have to get Upgrading and Updating pricing absolutely right in respect of the complete cost PTIEP offers. Saying 'Unfortunately, due to the large discounts already applied, there is no further discount available if you own more that one VI' as one punter says 'I feel ripped off' does not cut it for me neither. I hope Avid are changing their position. For as they are inviting new customers in with one hand, they are pushing loyal customers out the door with the other.

That's kind of the way I feel.. without seeming to disparaging to Digi..

But then I have to consider their upgrade paths from LE into HD.. I would venture to say that a lot if not most folks going from LE to HD have added toolkits to their kit along the way, and they would receive no credit for that.. I mean the CMPT is $2k... and they offer nothing for that????

That's a hard stand to take in todays economy in my opinion... but I'm not on the board of Avid so I guess my opinion doesn't count..

What I am and I think Flio is saying, is that bearing in mind the recent confusion surrounding the product launch, e.g. a video launch on the 11th on the AVID website, some product info on the site on the same day, then later pulled down and the subsequent confusion for the many users over what constitutes an upgrade and what doesn't, the last word may not have been said and until AVID make an official announcement it is conjecture.

Trust me, as soon as I know what's going on it will be on the blog - until then anything I print is purely conjecture.

What was interesting to me was, on the first day of NAMM this was presented as absolute, by Sunday it was a lot more vague. Don't get me wrong it's fine for then to rethink all of this but... I do find it interesting.
