who know, by then Digi may release a 10.5.6 compatible CS update, or they may just announce 10.5.6 is in the clear. Either way shut off your software updater. Are you familiar with repairing disk permissions? Every time you load new software, especially a new OS you must go into Disk Utility and repair the permissions on your system operating drive.

I'm afraid I agree with the sentiment but my gripe is that Protools 8 instrument tracks and functions are not stable or compatible with my favourite instruments...SD2 for example...so contrary to what digidesign say
I think we'll have to wait for 8.1 or something....meanwhile back to my cubase for midi!! |

PT 8 Rocks,
Being a ex digi product specialist in the NE for eight years and even being a little bitter after getting laid off.. PT 8 Rocks! let me tell you that 90% of issues with any PT is third party plug ins. That is the first place to look for any strange issues you may be having.. |

click on the Apple in the upper left hand corner, go to system preferences, click on "Software Update" and uncheck the check mark.

if you want Pro Tools to be stable, you ignore them. If you want the headache of Pro Tools being flakey, then update. If you want to have a stable running Pro Tools computer, you have to make some sacrifices. A lot of the people coming on here for help are the people that decided they didn't need to make the sacrifices and they end up back on here scratching their heads.
With that being said, you can manually run your software updater, then it will check for updates. Usually you can install anything OTHER than the OSX version update. So uncheck mark the OSX update and download and install everything else. Occasionally Quicktime updates have been known to get screwy, so if you wanna be safe, don't update Quicktime either. From then on out when you click on software update it will continue to ask to download and install those items that you elected not to do last. Just keep unchecking them and install the other stuff.
