I would be quite happy with that. Working on the post side of things, we rarely (never) have any control over the recording side of things, other than ADR or VOs. If there's a way to make my job easier, then absolutely! Unless I'm mistaken, I don't believe that adding bits will adversely affect anyone.

And in field recording there can be compelling reasons to set things lower or higher than would seem optimal due to factors that aren't apparent when it gets to post.

PT9 doesn't have tdm functionality if not connected to at least a core card. No tdm means no HEAT, Phoenix, revive etc. No track input monitoring and some other details. To keep this, IMO, important value that tdm brings, among many others, I'm hanging onto my G5 a bit longer until Avid hits the bullseye with HD users.

OK, I'll keep cranking along with the G5 and PCM-X cards and wait and see what Avid offers us.
