Can't mute/solo tracks....help!!!

Ever had this happen to you? None of the tracks in some (not all) of my sessions will mute or solo when you hit the buttons. They just highlight briefly when you click on them. Anyone know what might be causing this?

Could you have inadvertently copied or created some automation?

Check your prefs.. you may need to delete them in your prefs folder if this isn't something you actually changed on purpose.

I know it's not an automation problem, because it still does it even when I turn the automation off. I tried re-installing Pro Tools (it's the 32track beta) and that doesn't change anything either. I've checked the preferences menu and I can't find any settings in there that would have this sort of effect. I'll find the preferences folder and see if making changes there will have any effect (although I doubt it will do anything). Any other suggestions in the meantime? I'd appreciate it....

The "Latch solo buttons" pref could affect the way the solo operates.

Which version of Pro Tools are you running.. and which OS?

Are the solo and mute buttons regular or grayed out (like when you command+click on them)?

I just got home and turned on my computer for the first time today.....and the problem's gone! It just magically disappeared! I guess it was just some weird computer glitch that decided to make my life hell for a little while. Anyway, thanks very much for the help everyone. I really appreciate it.

I have one of the buttons on my mouse programmed to be a "double-click" even though you push it once. An engineer friend of mine was using my studio and was having the same problem as you, but it turns out he was hitting the "double-click" button instead of the single click button and it was turning on and off the solo buttons and other things. He thought my system was jacked until I explained it to him over the phone.

This doesn't necessarily sound like your problem, but it could be. Besides it seems like a funny/entertaining story anyway.
