Sorry I am still not clear what you are referring to as "Activity monitor" Can you post a screen of what you are looking at ?

Do you mean this ?

Or this ?....... Or something else ?

I tried CPUSetter, and now I Pro Tools shows 12 CPUs, instead of 24. However, the Activity Monitor CPU Usage Windows still shows 24 in the graphic and I did use CPU Setter before opening Activity Monitor. . . I presume the quantity of Activity Monitor Usage meters is incorrect?

Guys.

Who cares what the meters say.

Why not try running a low buffer size (<=64) in Pro Tools with a bunch of your plugins and see if you're golden?

Yea I did, but still getting the AAE -9171 Errors, which stop playback/recording. Session with moderate plug-ins. I guess my problem is not caused by Hyper Threading.

Actually I figured out what my confusion was, with the computer at an idle (say just showing the desktop no apps running ) no matter what CPU setter choice I make, it may only show several cores active 1-4 or 5 and they keep changing (1....3....4...1...2. etc. ) so it was hard to tell how many were active or not .... but for example if I have PT going and run a big session then with HT off it will ramp up and show 6 cores active and with HT on it will begin to show more being active 7-12

Turning hyperthreading off didn't make a difference with VI usage for me. I'm not on Mojave though.
