You complained at the start of this thread about things not showing up in CoreAudio manager.... they are not expected to, you should not be using CoreAudio Manager.

After the drivers are installed and the Mbox 2 Pro connected what exactly shows up in the OS X Audio/Midi Setup utility?

That attachment is a fuzzy mess, I cannot really see what is going on. But it does not look like the Mbox2 is showing up.

if its not showing up disconnect the Mbox 2. Download the driver again. Run the installer package. Power off the Mac. connect the Mbox 2 Power up the Mac and then once booted turn on the Mbox 2. Now does it show up in Audio Midi Setup?

BTW you should be trying to attach a GIF or PNG at normal screen resolutions.

Here, I'll attach an example to see if it works. Captured as a TIFF in the OS X Grab utility and converted to PNG-8 (With Photoshop but many other utilites can do this).

EDIT: Nope, oh well looks like the forum is set up to scale attachments, that's a waste of time doing that hoping folks will be able to attach screen shots here.

And if a new careful driver install does not work, then you are back to debugging if the Firewire port in the Mac work at all... try another Firewire device and test. Try different cables. Shut down and power off everything when debugging/connecting the devices.

And/or you may need to try resinstalling OS X from scratch... in which case I'd consider upgrading to Mountain Lion... after you confirm the current 002 Pro Drivers (not the old "stand alone" ones you are using) that support Mountain Lion will work with Logic/CoreAudio.

I did what you told me. Mbox 2 Pro is still "not connected" in Coreaudio manager.

As for the Audio Midi Setup, I see the same as before i.e: I can see the Digi CoreAudio Device in the list but it looks inactive (0 in / 0 out)...

The Firewire connection works perfectly fine with an external HD. Same as for the cable.

I just bought this laptop 2 weeks ago and the guy already made a complete restore and re-installed OS X from scratch.

I'm cursed!

However the likely problem is you are installing a driver for some of the Mbox 2 family that does not include support for the Mbox 2 Pro.

Why do you want to install all this old PT 7/8 era stuff? On an old OS? I would be trying to upgrade the Mac to Mountain Lion and installing the latest Mbox 2 Pro drivers. http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/d...-2-Pro-Drivers. I am pretty sure they are fine CoreAudio drivers that will work with Logic... but maybe other folks can confirm that. And you really might want to take this whole thread over to Apple's Logic user forums.

Why? Money, anyone?
Upgrading for any Pro Tools last versions and/or Mountain Lion will cost a lot, in the end.

Of course it is not connected in CoreAudio manager. It will *never* show up in CoreAudio manager. Why are you still going on about CoreAudio manager? I've explained multiple times now that CoreAudio Manager does not work with this device. Stop using it or delete it if you need to, all you should be looking at is the AudioMidi Setup utility

And you did what exactly? Try another firewire cable? Try another firewire device? What device, what happened? reinstall OS X?

Why what? you have a used Mac. Was it ever reinstalled/wiped? If not you have God knows what mess of stuff installed there. So when buying a new computer, first thing is to wipe the disk, do a clean install. If you are going to do that, look at getting on a current OS. Something likely better supported by everybody than the currently years old stuff currently on it.

You are on Snow Leopard, I'd probalby be extra paranoid and do a clean reinstall of that from DVD-ROM and then upgrade to Mountain Lion, it will cost you a massive $20.

Again check the Logic Pro you are using will work with the current Mbox 2 Pro drivers.

This is what I did. Weren't you recommending me to try to re-install the coreaudio driver?

I also tried another FW cable, another device (a Hard Disk) and it appeared on the desktop normally, as usual.
