digirack trouble
I'm trying to use the digirack limiter, but it doesn't seem to be working how it should. According to my knowledge, wherever I set the threshold should stop the sound completely. That, as far as I know, is how a limiter works, unless i'm completely misinformed. But when I use it, it lets all kind of signal through. I have to put my threshold way down to -15 or -20 dB to get the level I want without clipping. What the heck is going on? it could be that i just don't understand the way this particular limiter works.. yet it still just doesn't seem right

Re: digirack trouble
a limiter is a super compressor, usual 10:1 or 100:1 ratio.
Basically it gets the sound as loud as possible, when it hits the threshold, it stops the sound from getting too loud. Limiting is a mastering technique to bring audio up as loud as possible. you may like this guys site: http://www.tweakheadz.com/laboratory/index.html |
