Default URGENT HELP NEEDED:::SESSION TODAY

I'm running pro tools 5.1.1 / G4 400 / 1 gig ram.

Here's the deal. Finished my session last night and did a bounce to disk. As soon as the bounce finished pro tools "unexpectedly quit". Did it again...same thing. Opened another session and tried bouncing to disk the first 10 seconds or so and it worked fine. Went back to my original session and bounced the first 10 seconds and it worked fine. Tried bouncing the whole song (which is actually only 30 seconds because it's for a commercial) and it quit again.

I'm so NOT computer savy so any help would be GREATLY appreciated. I have to get this stuff uploaded to my clients idisk early today so I'm really in a jam!!!

Thanks,

...fik...

Try bussing everything to a stereo track and record your mix there. Then export that file using "Export Selected as Files." That will get you done today until you can figure out the problem.

..Also try making a selection of the area to BTD before you open the BTD dialog.

What are your BTD output options? Do you have import and convert during bounce selected?

I think Rail means to HighLight the part you want Bounced if your not doing that already!!!

Also try Convert after bounce!!!

What he means (I think) is that you have to select the area to bounce to disk. I'm not sure what happens if you don't make a selection , I'm pretty sure it's not good. Probably it tries to bounce the entire session and that could be many hours long.

i do highlight a section to bounce. can you bounce to disk without doing that??? i thought rail was refering to something else that's why i responded to that as unsure.

Did you try routing your mix to a new stereo track and actually recording the mix there in stead of bouncing it?
Or maybe select all region and press shift alt 3. This makes new audiofiles of them which maybe do work.

Maybe you need to deframent your hard drive.?

When PT crashed, it might have created some big files on your hard drive that need to be deleted.

i think he means try to selct a slightly smaller region or a slightly larger one. sometimes there is a strange mathematical relationship that develops between the sample rate and the amount of samples selected to be bounced.

yes, you can NOT select any audio and PT will bounce down what you have. this can be problem if you work in a sesson and drag in long regions past where your piece is and some automatioin gets written there. a 2 minute song can be a 7 minute bounce!
