What soundcard does everyone use?
It was previously suggested to me the Sound Blaster Audigy might be part of my problem.
So I'm just wondering what sound card everyone is using? |

Re: What soundcard does everyone use?
Hi Illone,
another soundcard? What for? I'm just using my MBOX 2 ... and the onboard sound is active (NForce Chipset) for apps that dont like the Digi Wave Driver. I would suggest: remove all other cards - especially remove all cards that start with Creative in their name Greeings |

Re: What soundcard does everyone use?
Well that may be a very helpful suggestion.. Sound blaster is made by creative and my default sound card on windows for some reason is also creative. So i guess Im looking for a good one at a decent price... any suggestions. and what about the fire wire card? dont even have one of these installed..

Re: What soundcard does everyone use?
illone,
What is your mother board ? AFAIK, most recently released boards have built in audio capabilities, so you actually might already have a "soundcard" Now..although "Sound Blaster" is a common feature in general PC's..it doesn't play nice with PT, according to many reported errors on this very forum. good luck

Oh Im not quite sure which motherboard i have. let me look into and get back... thanks for the info though.. there is a soundcard already on the computer though but it is also a creative soundcard for some reason. the only reason I ever bought audigy was becuz cubase recommended and i used that for like 6 years.

Re: What soundcard does everyone use?
I have a soundblaster Audigy 2. I disable it (in hardware manager) anytime I use ProTools. It was causing some issues when it was enabled previously. I couldn't get down to 64 buffer in PT with it enabled.

Re: What soundcard does everyone use?
I use an Audiophile 192 card for PT M-Powered and general purposes, and neither application has indicated any conflicts upon the other, except that PT takes the card over, so other apps can't use it in the background.
