Default Slow computer? 1.8 ghz, 512 ram, still slow

Do I need a better graphics card, I currently have a 64 MB Nvidia Graphics card, I also wanted to know if I am optimizing my computer right. I followed all the guidelines from the getting started guide but it's still slow. Mainly it's my refresh rate when i switch from Reason back to Pro Tools. Anybody got an answer. If you need more info. please be specific, cause;' i'm still kind of new to all this.

Interestingly enough, those are the spect for my machine, and it runs fine! Can you post exactly which tweaks you've done? I was fortunate; I didn't do ANY of the Windows XP tweaks. I didn't even disable the screen saver, and my PC runs pretty fast.

Admitantly, I can't get huge tracks count with the true Dave C test, but I could care less at the moment. It's rare that I'd ever have to use 5 plug ins per track for 32 tracks. In my own version of the DaveC test (let's call it the EPU Test), I use TWO Plug-Ins per track, and am able to get 32 Audio + 21 Aux tracks with virtually no problem - The CPU in this instance only hits the half mark.

What chip are you using? Intel or AMD? I plan on upgrading my chip to a 3.06 soon (max for a 533mHz bus system) for other reasons, but I have no problems - Yet.

Good Luck.
