Considering its not been mentioned once AFAIK, Id say its a pretty safe bet that its not changing. All the talk about it is from users who (rightfully) want it lifted, but it was never mentioned by anyone from AVID at NAMM. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Pro tools 2019 !
everybody is complaining about the fee they have to pay every year..
guys I don΄t know about your situation but I make a living because of protools and no other programm gives me what protools does yes there are bugs but my system is pretty damn stable now - and I love to work with it! if the playback buffer thing gets fixed then WOW I΄m even happier everybody is free to use whatever they want - it΄s just a tool to get the job done... |

If you have read PRO TOOLS EXPERTS lately, you know that there is a strong trend towards the PC. I had 2 intense years on MAC and I find that graphically (although I have a great video card) MAC is more powerful, better integrated, the image is more fluid. Easier to network too. But for the rest, I do not see the benefits of MAC. Except the usual, as with ... Pro Tools. But you have to understand: habit is an important aspect. I have been going to Samplitude for a few months a few months to familiarize myself. For a week, I can work entirely in this DAW, at least in recording and mixing. I'm not at MIDI, anyway pretty rudimentary in PT. https://www.pro-tools-expert.com/hom...arming-results

the only issue I find with my MBP is.... it gets to a pretty hot running temperature and battery life.

Re: Pro tools 2019 !
I alomst forgot why I finally switched after many years with PC. It was almost impossible to get a PC to work.
You basically had to be a rocket scientist to get it stable. Windows 95, Windows ME, Windows XP.. blue screen, dropouts, exception in XXXXXX etc. Finding a motherboard with integrated Texas Instruments Firewire chipsets was a full time job Etc etc. So I finally switched, and the Mac was just working. But it was boring. So on the software side, or on any side of the PC, I think its still much more freely evolving and innovative, like Samplitude for example. But has it yet become stable? Or do you still have to buy a Mac-priced rocket science researched Pcaudiolab computer to go below 8192 buffer size and avoid blue-screen? I miss the days with my Yamaha MTX8.. |

Re: Pro tools 2019 !
Come on avid. Track count? I never even use the track count HDX has. For vanilla users its cool but man.
I need to see the value in this 400 a year subscription. Give me something. |

I'm curious. Where do you see that statistic?

Re: Pro tools 2019 !
I think there are a number of users switching from Mac OS to Windows because Apple won't release a new Mac Pro workstation and the current (old) one is not upgradable in many respects. And Windows 10 has been surprisingly stable for Protools 12 and 2018. Add to that the fact that you can build a modern Windows PC with the same, or more processing power, storage and RAM, as a Mac Pro, at a fraction of the cost.
