Default Omnisphere 2

So, anybody try this out yet? I just ordered mine last night from Sweetwater but am curious how it runs in Pro Tools plus how are the new improved features.

Runs Fine! Used it since the beginning. I would make sure you follow the instructions and do all of the updates. It's a bit different on the installation than the previous if yo are upgrading, but not that tricky. Just read everything and you should be good to go. There are a ton of new features. You may want to check out the videos on the Spectrasonics website. There support and updates are great! They already addressed a few minor issues, with two updates in less than a week.

Good Luck! G

Do they recommend uninstalling a previous install of Omnisphere before doing the upgrade install?

They recommend backing up your steam folder prior to the upgrade (this makes it easier to revert back to V1 if that becomes necessary) but otherwise, no, you'll want to keep V1 installed before upgrading as it builds on top of that framework.

Regarding V1 vs V2, V2 hasn't exactly blown me away. In theory the new features are exciting. In practice, I'm enjoying the new patches and FX and features but they're not making it into many sessions. Some elements of V2 seem to be very CPU hungry, in some cases making it impossible to use (e.g. when a moderate number of other VIs are in use). That will depend on your machine, of course, but ours is no slouch and it handles other VIs without issue.

There's an update 2.0.2d available now at their site. Runs nicely in PT11 for me.

Hi Sorry.. Am busy on a rush project. No need to uninstall since it is an upgrade to Omi 1. You won't need to worry as it will give you a great update! Believe me.
Just follow the directions. I you have questions, just contact support. They are real good about getting back to people, but I am sure there is a lot out there on the installs now.

The best new feature for me is being able to use my own samples.

Runs great on my computer even with heavily laden VI session.
