Avid controlling PT's w/remote mode anyone?

We're having trouble getting our Avid (Adrenaline on OSX) to happily control our Protools (HD2) via Remote Mode (on a Keyspan dual serial). Protools can be controlled fine from a number of other editors (includign another PT's system). The Adrenaline controls a VTR fine. Controlling the PT's from the Adrenaline went from kinda working ie. Avid recognized Protools when it was emulating a BVW-75, but would "unexpectedly quit" whenever I went to digitize into the Avid (set an in and an out with "batch capture" and press record). Now the condition has degraded to the Avid not even recognizing Protools when it's control is routed to it. If we try controlling PT's from an older Meridian Avid it sees PT's fine and shuttles too, but when we play from Avid, we get a "not know state" error on the Avid as soon as it gets to the play point.

Is anyone successfully controlling Protools with an Avid (any version) via Protools remote mode?

System is
Protools 6.1/HD2/OS 10.2.6/Dual 1.25 ghz G4 (MDD)
Avid Adrenaline running Mediacomposer version 1.01/OS 10.2.6

Both have Keyspan dual serial adaptors with the latest drivers
