Side-by-side configuration error

Good morning everyone:

After upgrading to PT 10.0.2 I get this error message when trying to start Pro Tools:

"The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxtrace.exe tool for more detail."

I googled for a solution and searched the forum as well, and tried the suggestions I found, but none of them worked (disks do not have errors).

PT 10 used to work for me. I am on Windows 7 64 bit SP1, and have installed all the latest windows updates.

Update:

After uninstalling PT10 and reinstalling it, I get this error message:

"The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0150002). Click OK to close the application."

If anyone has any suggestions, I'd be grateful. PT was running fine, I feel like a damn fool for upgrading ... don't fix it if it ain't broke.

Make all updates of ptools you'll be fine
I did is okay now

Thank you Jasha!

I uninstalled Pro Tools, and reinstalled PT9. Pro Tools 9 is working for me.

I did notice that it did install to this directory:

[root] \Program Files (x86)\Digidesign

which, unless I am mistaken, is different from the subdirectory to which 10 was installed (Program Files (x86) \ Avid). I may be mistaken but I think I am pretty sure.

I am going to upgrade to 10 again now and see where that takes me.

Update: before installing PT10, I had to uninstall PT 9.

After rebooting, and reinstalling PT 10, I get the same error message

"The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0150002). Click OK to close the application."

Update 8:43 am: googling turns up old and irrelevant search results. One thing I tried (but which does not work either) is downloading and installing .NET Framework 4.

10.1.2 on win
Mac until 10.1.3

Yes, that is the update I just reinstalled. Still doesn't work.

I solved whith that when my PT 10.1.2 was not opening
