TC electronics P2

Hey,
Anyone have any experience with this piece of hardware? Seems like a simple way to assure proper broadcast levels?
Also it seems that a PC is necessary to edit programs? (no mac)
I know there is no "magic wand" for this, but does anyone know of other products that do what the P2 does? thanks, ff
