Default Help with Mac Replacement

My single processor Quick Silver G-4 needs a motherboard according to a tech that looked at it. I don't want to buy a G-5 due to the expense so I've been looking on Ebay. I use a 002 with panther and have been reasonably happy. More processing power would be nice though. I assume I'd be happy with a used G-4 dual processor. Can I get some recomendations of what to purchase as a replacement.

You can probably score a decent deal on a FW800 model G4, like the dual 1.25 or the 1.42. These machines still work well, and i use my FW800 dual 1.25 for all my work, running Final Cut (Express and Pro), ProTools, Logic Express, among other things. Granted, if you could also score an older G5, more power to you (literally). A dual 1.8 or 2.0 G5 is probably pretty easy to find around eBay.

Good luck!

Are there any issues I should be aware of that I want to stay away from on particular models or configurations?
