Default Help (strange retarded recording problem)

Gentlemen,

Having tried every way I could imagine, I still can't fix this following problem. Let me explain in point form ^^
  1. I plug a guitar in (In 1 or In 2)
  2. I have prepared a track selected corresponding input
  3. and the red RECORD button pressed
  4. and I play my guitar
  5. the sound respond is around 0.2 to 0.3 second slower than my playing

The strange thing is, actually at the moment I plug my guitar in, there is a sound respond from the monitor connected to my MBox no matter I have made an audio track or not. Such guitar sound is not affected by any plug-ins of course, and it has no delay in responding.

My Yamaha M88 keyboard USB-connected to my desktop has the same problem, approximately the same time interval of delay. The only thing that makes a difference is no track, no sound, of course.

This really isn't affordable cos I have to try for faster playing. Thanks for reading.

Google (search this forum, and your Mbox manual) the word Latency. In the meantime in Pro Tools go to Setup, Playback Engine and change H/W Buffer size to 128 or 256. It's set to 512 by default.

The manual is your friend. As is youtube. Read up on the MIX knob and how to use it.

Thanks very much. I'm sorry I couldn't access to the internet these days so finally I couldn't reply and say thanks. The problem was solved, thanks to the suggestions.
