Are you working from an external drive? I have gotten this error message before when I open pro tools up BEFORE turning on my external hard drive and trying to open files from the external drive. PT checks your set up out as it's starting up so if you try to tell it to use files that are on a drive it didn't see when it started up, it'll give you this message. That's what I've concluded at least. If this is the case for you, all you have to do is close PT and open it again (after your external drive is recognized by your system). Hope this helps.
