Default Potential Trade ProControl for Artist Mix

I have a ProControl and a fader pack. I love it. As we all know it is not supported on future PT releases. I do not foresee moving past PTHD10 TDM, but you never know. I had someone offer me a great deal on the Artist series with a trade/cash deal. It would be for the main unit with 4 faders and the 8 fader unit.

For those that have experience with both, what are you thoughts or pro's/Cons of each in comparison. Please only put in context of PTHD 10/TDM and not future releases.

Don't, ProControl is much better. Until banking is correct, Artist is a toy for large scale! Nice display and touch features but basic's stink. Another "half completed job" by Avid. They moved on to something …else?

Hey Barry Johns,
I had a 32 Fader ProControl setup and loved it! However, I sold mine before they were "majorly devalued." I too am on PT10HD HD6 Accel PCI-X with a PER-64 Magma Chassis. Now I have 3 Avid Mix's, Avid Control, and a Transport. However, I only use my rig to mix along with the touch screen on the Control. I create "Show/Hide" markers and location points from my Artist Control for my fader access when mixing busses, effects, automation etc. I still "mouse" my plugins and I even did the same when I used the ProControl. So, for me I totally look at control surfaces as a giant mouse. I don't regret buying my Avid Artist pieces at all. One thing I did do was purchase
'Pro Style" metallized fader caps to replace the "cheap" plastic feeling fader caps that come on the Avid Artist series. I've stuck with version 2.71 Euphonix software and I'm still running Snow Leapard 10.6.8 and PT 10.3.3.

See my rig here: www.reflectiveproductionsandrecording.com

Hi

I'm with some Artist gear as well and interested to know, where I can find some fader cap replacement within Europe.

Any guess?

Tks and Cheers

Here you go:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Prof-FADER-K.../350937337912?

I got the ribbed-brushed caps. They´re nice.
There are also gold caps available...
