PT native card and Ssl?

I have an SSL Madixtreme 128 card which works well with LA but not w PT. I am wondering if I drop a PT native card in the computer (not to be used simultaneously but rather alternately) will this work?

Further how many I/o can I get thru the PT Native card using Logic Audio?
