Default Random "pre-midi notes" before real note

Hi,

I notice when I record a bass part from my controller using the
Trilian bass module that there are these "pre-midi notes" that appear
right before the real note i played. If I don't go in and physically
remove them; when I quantize the notes sound all weird.

Anyone have this issue? If so, how do I stop these from appearing
alltogether?

Thanks!

Couple of questions:

a) Can you give us details on your controller, and how you have the controller hooked up (MIDI+ USB MIDI Interface or USB directly)

b) Are you recording the MIDI directly on the Trillian Instrument track, and have you tried creating a separate MIDI track and assigning this to the Trillian?

Hi,

I have my Axiom pro hooked up to my Mbox 2 pro via USB. I open
a stereo instrument track, open the Trilian on it, open a mono midi track where the midi gets sent and recorded.

Does that help?

it kind of helps- except that the Axiom Pro typically does not hook to the MBox with USB, it could either hook up to the MBox 2 via a pair of MIDI cables, or hook directly to the computer via USB.

Can you try hooking the Axiom directly to the Mac via USB and checking that you have the latest drivers for this device at m-audio.com?

You also want to open AMS (the Audio Midi Setup) found in Applications->Utilities and make sure that the Mac OS is seeing the Axiom properly in the MIDI Pane...

My bad.....The Axiom is hooked to my Macbook via usb and I have my midi cables going to and from the Mbox.

I haven't tried the drivers. Maybe that's it.....

Why do you have USB *and* MIDI cables- typically you want one or the other. This may be the cause of your ghost notes- try disconnecting the MIDI cables, check the drivers and AMS and see what happens...

I am so dumb.....I just thought the midi information had to go through the Mbox. I will unplug them and check the drivers.....

So, I just need the USB cable to the Macbook? Nothing to the Mbox?

Thank you!

The MIDI Interface built-into the MBox is really to hook up MIDI equipment that does not have USB on it (like older keyboards, or some modern sound modules that are MIDI only) - you could hook the Axiom up via MIDI and the MBox- but the better way is really USB. You definitely don't want both : )

Let us know if this solves your problem!
