Default Mbox mini 3rd generation PT 11.0.3 and Mavericks

Ok - I posted a couple of times here about my Mbox 2 mini not working with Mavericks and PT 11.0.3

So I bit the bullet and bought me an Mbox mini 3rd gen

It powers up - but is not recognized by the computer, the little mbox application says the hardware is not connected, and pro tools doesn't list it in the playback engine menu as an I/O option

What can I do?

I'm running Macbook Pro, 4GB ram, PT 11.0.3 and have downloaded the latest drivers for the Mbox mini

Really behind on a lot of work and need to get this sorted THX

When you open the Mbox Mini application in System Preferences, does it show the version number as 1.2?

OK, thanks, so you have the right driver. A few things you might try...

Have you tried starting Pro Tools with the N key held down to force the playback engine dialogue? See this Kbase article.

How is the Mbox Mini connected, directly to a USB 2 port on the Mac, or does the Macbook Pro have USB 3 ports?

Are you using a USB hub?

Have you tried a different USB cable?

You can download the driver and install it without installing Pro Tools, if you have access to another Mac with Mavericks on it, and see if the Mini is recognized on that Mac.

Ok - I tried holding down "n" which brought up the playback engine dialogue. Still not there.

The mbox is recognized on my friends macbook pro using the same cable. Also - my mbox 2 mini is recognized but I have the same distortion problems which led me to buy the mbox mini 3rd generation

I am not using a usb hub - have tried both ports on my macbook pro.

Also - the only light that comes on is the blue power light. None of the signal, or 48v power lights on the front panel light up

OK - correction to my previous post. My friend assumed that when the blue light came on , the mbox was working. On another try, it turns out it's not and is not recognized by his computer either on mavericks.

I also tried installing the drivers on a windows machine, and same deal.

So I guess it's the mbox.

What do I do? Return it?

From browsing the forums seems this happens to a lot of 3rd gen minis
