Re: LG ultrawide display & CPU problems?
In the end I moved my 4K display to my laptop and went back to a good ol' 20" Cinema Display. Which is fine CPU-wise, but it's hard to go back to non-retina, particularly when working zoomed out on large scores.

Re: LG ultrawide display & CPU problems?
I will look into this as I get -9093 errors(cpu spikes) when I open/edit settings on a Waves plugin. Runs great with the plugin inserted and the plugin window closed. I always have to move the buffer up. I was also looking at getting a new graphics card in hopes of fixing the problem. First, I will try to swap out my mini DP to HDMI cable for a mini DP to DP.

Re: LG ultrawide display & CPU problems?
It does seem better since upgrading to Mojave and recent version of Pro Tools. But the UI is still sluggish compared to running at non-Retina resolutions and the GPU usage is at 100% once a Pro Tools session is open.
Edit: the high GPU usage seems to be only an issue when the Edit window is displayed, and then seems to scale with track height. I wonder if it is to do with the metering.
