Blank Box When Recording

Hi guys, i'm having a problem recording here

After record enabling the track and going to record, an empty box appears where my recording should be and after playback there is no sound, im running on winodws 7 64bit with Pro Tools LE8

Please help......

What are you recording? What kind of track are you recording to? With Win 7, you should be updated to PT 8.0.5. I will take a shot in the dark here and guess you recording some instrument like guitar to an instrument track? That's a typical newbie goof as anything outside the box should be recorded to an AUDIO track. Instrument tracks are for Virtual Instruments(like DB-33, MiniGrand, etc). If none of this helps, then we'll need a lot more info before we can offer advice

Have you installed the 'Demo song' off the installer disk. If so can you hear it when you play it back?

What Hardware Interface are you using, is it Firewire or USB and what is it that you are trying to record?

As Albee said, the first thing you need to do is to upgrade to PT8.05 (free) as Win7 needs at least v8.04;

Do not un-install PT just download & run the updater.

Do you have the latest drivers installed for your Interface? Remember to update drivers when you update to 8.05;

I would suggest having a good read, re-read of the Pro Tools reference guide as well, again as Albee said, you need to understand the different types of tracks available and what they are used for. You may well already know this but from the little information provided, we can't tell whether you do or not.
