In this case yes, but in bigger picture what I said is true.

Apple has been broadcasting loudly for years that they would be pulling 32bit support—to users and especially to developers. This was not sprung on Avid unfairly.

So true, and now we can't export a Quicktime--one of the biggest core workflow tasks.

Good job Avid.

Why o why do they contunue to 'break stuff' that was working?!?!?!?!? After the 14th time , theyre doing it on purpose. No one who had any self respect would allow that to continue to happen.

Good job Avid.

I've been using DaVinci Resolve to lay up audio to video, in the absence of Avid being able to offer a solution. It is equal parts embarrassing as it is eye opening when an NLE that is freely downloadable from the App Store can do the job quicker and better than Avid ever could with Pro Tools.

I sure hope whatever solution Avid bakes up is fitting for 2020, rather than the 2003 QuickTime antiquity that they seem so keen on rehashing over and over again.

In all fairness to Avid, this appears to be a Mac issue, as Windows
users can still export to QuickTime file (.MOV) and mp3

They cant use that excuse. This is a tool that ABSOLUTELY has to work FOR PROFESSIONALS who rely on it for thier livelihood. you cannot release software and blame the OS. why didnt they test the mission critical features WITH the OS? why is this stuff getting broken?

Maybe Avid don`t dare to release a stable, good working version of Pro Tools...
Nobody would renew their subscriptions

Whats up fellow audio peeps? So I actually am having an issue with 2020.5. Also am running latest Mojave. Here's the issue. I can't activate Pro Tools Ultimate. Literally can't run the program at all. My ilok is connected, logged in, perpetual Ultimate 12/11/10/9 bundle in my ilok. Avid link is up to date...says ultimate is active, with upgrade plan... PT keeps telling me I have no license. What the heck right? My support plan did recently expire but I renewed it. and also I have an ultimate perpetual subscription. anyone else?

The issue is potentially worse for Windows users. Apple ceased support for Quicktime on Windows back in 2016. The Department of Homeland security has since flagged it as a security risk and recommended everyone uninstall it.

Avid have had years to address it, but haven't bothered. Perhaps it's better for the business of support plans. They will probably announce a new video engine in early 2021, with a planned release in the second quarter so that everyone renews.
