Default Pro Tools 8 to Pro Tools 9 Session question

Hey everyone,

I've just ordered myself the Pro Tools 9 Crossgrade from 8 because I'm working on a big project that needs more than 48 tracks provided with LE. The only thing I'm concerned about is the stability of a version 8 session in 9.

Has anyone encountered any issues? I'm using quite alot of plugins external and internal, automation and so on. Is there any risk of corruption?

Thanks!

Hi dude

i would recommend making a system image of your drive before upgrading to 9 so that if there is any probs you can revert back to 8 easily. This is a lesson i learnt the hard way. Always make a system image before any upgrade.

As for any corruption issues ive not had any.

Regards

Thank you Ill bear that in mind. All my sessions are backed up on a spare hard drive. If all fails I'll just re-install Pro Tools.

Dude you dont want to just reinstall pro tools that can be a right pain. Take a system image (when everything is working nice and smooth) of your drive that has pro tools on with a program like Acronis. Then it only takes about 20 mins to go back to exactly that instead of reinstalling windows then all the programs then all ya plug ins.

Trust me i really did get caught out on this when i went from PT 9 to PT 9.0.1 it took me a whole week to get it all up and running again kept getting an error when i tried to reinstall 9.0.0.

Cheers
