A FireWire dock gives you the flexability of multiple hot swappable drives that you can add on as needed. the dock itself is inexpensive (under $100) and drive caddies are less than $15 each. they will accept any standard ATA/IDE drive, and the dock utilizes the Oxford 911 chipset. Fitted with a PT compatible drive, it is capable of read/write directly from PT.
It is reasonably sized, external AC powered for max performance, universal voltage, and runs silent.

IMHO the best bang for the buck in external drives. $300 will get you the dock and 2-80gb drive caddys.

Hope this is helpful.

USB 2.0 is faster!! But you have to have USB 2.0 slot.. If you do! This is the best! Plus every computer I know of that has been made from 1995 has at least usb 1.0?

oh ya Firewire is good but slower:
firewire: upto 480/mbp ( mega bits )
USB 2.0: 550/mbp or more!
