how to connect s/pdif to analogue desk
i have a mac pro computer, 003 digi and focusrite octopre le and use a soundtracs analogue desk ,at the moment i have 16 ins and out with this setup ,i want to utilise the s/pdif connectons to get 18 ins outs but have never used spdif and have no idea how to connect any ideas?thanks

Which mixer? Topaz 24? If it's an all-analog desk, then it doesn't have S/PDIF I/O. In that case, you'd need a stereo A/D and D/A that can use S/PDIF. Say you used a Panasonic SV-3700 DAT machine - a pair of RCA cables between 003 and DAT, four mic cables between DAT and mixer. Simple as that. S/PDIF, you know, is a digital format.
If your desk does have a pair of RCA-type coaxial connectors for S/PDIF I/O, then it's as simple as running RCA cables between the two. Your Soundtracs manual should explain how to select those digital inputs and outputs.
