Default Sync Issues with N.I. Electric Sunburst & Prime Bass

Hey Everyone,

I'm wondering if any of you have had a sync issue with the plugins from Native Instruments called Prime Bass or Electric Sunburst. I purchased these two plugins and they both have the same problem syncing up correctly with my Pro Tools session. I have followed all the video examples I can find and stepped through all the instructions in the manual, yet I still have a horrible time getting it to sync up with even the simplest of rhythms. Can anyone help?

FYI, I have also reached out to Native Instrument's Support and their response was simply telling me to read the manual, (bastards!).

There are a lot of problems with midi and sync in PT. If your problem is about the internal syncing of the arpeggio to the protools clock check this, although it applies to Maschine it can be used for other NI and other non NI VI's sometimes. https://support.native-instruments.c...-11-or-Higher-

I just tested both VI's in the link below and they seem to sync as they should. Not sure if this kind of sync is what you're referring to. I also have a metronome track running as well.

The thing is, looking at your test in the dropbox link, there are 0 samples to be delay compensated in that session. Just for fun, create a new audio instrument or aux track and put something delay heavy on it like fabfilter L 2, or Avid's Maxim plugin. And hit play again. At that point everything immediately runs out of sync with the click.

Unless you disable plugin delay on the tracks with the NI arpeggios running. But with plugin delay disabled, don't insert another plugin with quite some samples of delay into the chain because at that point there's no workaround anymore.

I say plugins with quite some sample delay because they make it quite audible. But even a 30 sample delay adding plugin will shift timing, which isn't that audible for a rhythmic pattern, but already causes phase issues with side chain plugins like Kickstart and LFOtool also suffering from this delay compensation problem, and that's quite nasty for e.g. lows building up when you want to sidechain a bass-part to make room for the kick.

There's a sticky thread about this PT-263943 bug: https://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=410911 . Hopefully it will be fixed within soon, while at the same time this issue exists for years and years already.

Here you go. I have added tracks with heavy plugin latency. Check out the video link below. Everything is still in sync.

And how's that sounding when you unmute the click in this example session? curious!

Just did a quick screen recording with what I experience over here: https://portals.wetransfer.com/revie...7-87e2fd962382

This is what it sounds like with the click unmuted.

Huh, ok , and delay compensation is turned on, I assume, as otherwise the delay view would have been inactive. Anything else specifically you turned on or off as preference or whatever, because for about the last 10 years I didn’t get this to work. Also tried kontakt instead of komplete Kontrol but that makes no difference. The only variable I can think of is that I’m running sessions off HDX and you run pro tools natively as I can see.

Ok, double checked running pro tools ultimate natively without HDX, same issues here. Which version of pro tools are you on if may ask? Also ultimate I suppose?

You know, you're right. I didn't notice that the delay compensation was turned off on the click track and when I turn it on I get the same results as you. See link below. I have never run into this issue before because when working from DAW to different DAW's, I had developed the habit when tracking to never use plugins with latency and when I do in the mix (ALL) the Instrument tracks are either Frozen at the Instrument and or committed. It's just the way I have always worked in Pro Tools. I have been doing it this way so long it's been out of sight and out of mind. You could always adopt this method If and until Avid finally decides to fix it or you could just use plugins that have zero latency for VI's. Many of them out there now have the option to be used at low latency or high latency for look ahead like limiters.
