Default Feature Request:32bit File Record/Export

I'd like to see the availability of 32bit float file export as well as 32bit float file recording of audio files.

My reason, simple..I would like the highest quality mixdown to send off to be mastered when bouncing down my project.

Most every DAW I know has this option, and since PT's uses a 32bit audio engine it should be easy to add the option for record/export.

As there is no such thing as a 32bit ADC, or DAC, this should make zero difference on the recording side of things.

And since anything has to get up-sampled to create a 32 bit file (zeros are simply tacked on the end of the 24 bit sample), then it really doesn't matter for export either, as whatever software the mastering house is using will do the same thing (if it actually mixes 32 bit files...)...

32 bit float mix engine is to accommodate the big numbers required by summing before dividing..

People love to be sold by bigger numbers... Sometimes it just doesn't matter.

I could be wrong and YMMV

Talk to a mastering facility and see if they think it matters. I'd be curious to hear the answer

There is no benefit in 32bit float files against the 24bit fixed. If you haven't clipped the hell out of your daw, than the two files should be identical besides the bitrate of course.
